10 Different Light Modes

Gain an unparalleled view of skin appearance with each light mode that showcases different aesthetic aspects. Display your personalized treatment plan based on insights into skin quality, and help your patients understand how you can enhance their appearance.

Daylight

Daylight

The way skin appears under standard lighting. This can serve as the starting point for your aesthetic consultation, as this is how your patient typically perceives their skin.

TrueUV

True UV

Many aesthetic skin aspects originate from variations in deeper layers of skin appearance. In this mode, a safe dose of invisible UV light is applied to the skin surface. Through interaction with different skin elements, aesthetic considerations in various layers create distinct fluorescence patterns that contrast with surrounding healthy looking skin.

Woods

WOODS

In this mode, the illumination of Wood’s lamp is replicated. Short wavelength blue light is reflected by skin lipids. As a result, a light and pinkish-colored haze appears on areas (T-zone and U zone) on which the hydrolipid film is distributed and sebaceous glands are active. Additionally, thinning skin structures and (de)pigmentation become visible.

Cross Polarised

Cross Polarised

This light mode suppresses surface shine and allows a view into the skin. As the specular reflections of the skin are filtered out, a deeper view into the skin is created. Vascular and pigmentation lesions and discolorations reveal themselves clearly when the view is no longer obscured by the shiny surface of the skin.

Parallel Polarised

Parallel Polarised

With aging, the surface texture of the skin becomes rougher and pore structures become more apparent due to changes in the underlying structural and functional biochemistry of dermal and epidermal components. The parallel polarization mode enhances glare reflections of the surface texture and the microrelief of the epidermis can be analyzed in more detail without the distraction of information coming from below the surface.

Surface Texture

Surface Texture

This picture highlights the skin’s surface texture and roughness. Early signs of aging such as fine lines, wrinkles, visible pore structures, and bumpy skin including rough patches become more apparent and help to understand the overall skin’s micro-relief.

Pigmentation

Vascularity

Vascularity

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Will the OBSERV®520x automatically advise on treatments and products?

We believe in the expertise of aesthetic professionals to interpret Observ images and make recommendations. The Observ®520x and Observ®320 allow you to create your own catalog of products and treatments from which you can recommend, supporting your business growth.

  • What is the preferred frequency of skin analysis during a treatment plan?

In general, more images are better. There are virtually no downsides, and your client will appreciate seeing their progress clearly visualized. Typically, at least 3 sets of skin analyses are taken: one before treatment, one during to confirm the plan is working, and a final one to visualize results.

  • What do I need if I want to start with an OBSERV®520x skin analysis?

If you’re an aesthetic professional, contact the nearest dealer in your country to order your Observ. If you can’t find a dealer in your region, contact us directly with your request.

  • Is Observ safe to use?

Yes, the Observ is specifically developed for use in salons and clinics and meets the highest safety standards. The technology is tested and approved by acknowledged international testing labs.

  • How can I measure hydration?

Hydration is one of many parameters that can be identified visually, but not measured, through Observ. We focus on visual signs that give experts information about the skin’s appearance, as this is more valuable than temporary measurements affected by environmental factors.

  • What is the difference between visual and quantitative measurement?

With Observ, we focus on visual skin appearance analysis. Our images are so revealing that even subtle skin changes become visible to the professional and the client. We believe visual analysis is more valuable than quantitative measurements, which can be influenced by seasonal changes and operator variance. Computers often lack the sensitivity to detect fine improvements.

  • Do I need to follow a training?

Although our Observ devices and apps are intuitive, we recommend contacting your local dealer for training options. Training can be done online or during/after installation to enrich your knowledge and become an Observ expert!

  • Can I email the reports?

Yes, there are many ways to share Observ reports with your clients; by email, print, Airdrop, and Teams for example.
