10 Different Light Modes

Get an unparalleled view into the skin layers with each light mode that showcases different skin concerns. Build your treatment plan based on insights of what goes on beneath the skin and help your patients understand how you can improve their appearance.

Daylight

Daylight

The way your skin looks with normal lighting. This can be the baseline of your consultation as this is also how a patient sees their skin.

TrueUV

True UV

Most skin imperfections are caused by anomalies in deeper skin layers. In this mode, a harmless dose of invisible UV light is radiated on the skin. Through the interaction with different cells, vessels and microorganisms, abnormalities on both epidermis and dermis will create distinguishable fluorescence patterns which stand out from surrounding healthy skin.

Woods

WOODS

In this mode, the illumination of Wood’s lamp is replicated. Short wavelength blue light is reflected by skin lipids. As a result, a light and pinkish-colored haze appears on areas (T-zone and U zone) on which the hydrolipid film is distributed and sebaceous glands are active. Additionally, thinning skin structures and (de)pigmentation become visible.

Cross Polarised

Cross Polarised

This light mode suppresses surface shine and allows a view into the skin. As the specular reflections of the skin are filtered out, a deeper view into the skin is created. Vascular and pigmentation lesions and discolorations reveal themselves clearly when the view is no longer obscured by the shiny surface of the skin.

Parallel Polarised

Parallel Polarised

With aging, the surface texture of the skin becomes rougher and pore structures become more apparent due to changes in the underlying structural and functional biochemistry of dermal and epidermal components. The parallel polarization mode enhances glare reflections of the surface texture and the microrelief of the epidermis can be analyzed in more detail without the distraction of information coming from below the surface.

Surface Texture

Surface Texture

This picture highlights the skin’s surface texture and roughness. Early signs of aging such as fine lines, wrinkles, visible pore structures, and bumpy skin including rough patches become more apparent and help to understand the overall skin’s micro-relief.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Will the OBSERV®520x automatically advise on treatments and products?

Because we reveal skin concerns and possibilities for rejuvenation so clearly, the stepstone to treatment plans and product recommendations is very small. We strongly believe in the knowledge and experience of beauty experts and aesthetic professionals. They have had all the training and daily practice, so they can interpret the images of Observ far better than a ‘machine’ can. Additionally, Observ 520x and Observ 320 allow you to create your own catalogue of products and treatments from which you can recommend and thus boost your sales.

  • What is the preferred frequency of skin analysis during a treatment plan?

In general, it is better to take more pictures than fewer. There are virtually no downsides to doing so, and your client will be happy to see their progress clearly visualized. Usually, at least 3 sets of skin analyses are taken. One to analyze the skin beforehand, one during treatment to confirm the treatment plan is working, and a final one to visualize the results.

  • What do I need if I want to start with an OBSERV®520x skin analysis?

If you are a beauty expert or aesthetic professional, look for the nearest dealer in your country and order your Observ right away! If you don’t find a dealer in your region, contact us to send your request.

  • Is Observ safe to use?

Yes, the Observ is specifically developed to operate in salons and clinics and meets the highest safety standards. The technology is tested and approved by acknowledged international testing labs.

  • How can I measure hydration?

Hydration is one of many parameters that can be identified, but not measured through Observ. We don’t measure hydration, because this is a temporary situation, depending on the season, the environment and the operator, so we look for visual signs that give experts information about the skin condition. This is always more valuable in the end.

  • What is the difference between visual and quantitative measurement?

With Observ we focus on visual analysis, our images are so strong and revealing that even the most subtle appearance and skin changes will become visible to the professional and the client. In addition, we think that quantitative measurements are subject to seasonal changes and the influence of the operator, while computers often lack the sensitivity of perception to pick up ‘ultra-fine’ improvements.

  • Do I need to follow a training?

Although all our Observ devices and apps work intuitively, we advise you to contact your local dealer for all training and education options. Nowadays training can easily be followed online and there are also options for training during or after installation. Easily enrich your knowledge and become a real Observ expert!

  • Can I email the reports?

Yes, there are many ways to share Observ reports with your clients; by email, print, Airdrop, and Teams for example.
